Privacy and Security - Although we make every effort to send sensitive information securely, emails can be intercepted and read, disclosed, or otherwise used by an unintended third party. As such, we specifically disclaim and waive any liability or responsibility whatsoever for any loss or damage to any person or entity in any way resulting from the use of email transmissions in connection with the performance of this engagement. Please minimize this risk by using our secure link on our website to transmit all sensitive information. 

Our firm uses third party software for tax preparation, data hosting and electronic transmission, including but not limited to Lacerte Tax, CS Payroll, Gusto Payroll, Dropbox Sign, Adobe Sign, ShareFile, QuickBooks, and Office Tools Workspace, some of which utilize cloud-based storage services for part or all of their data storage and transmission. All of our firm’s electronic data is stored in a secure cloud server hosted by the third-party Abacus Private Cloud. By agreeing to this engagement, you consent to our use of cloud-based storage and third-party software for the services we provide you.

 

Records Retention – It is our policy to keep records related to income tax preparation for a minimum of three years after the end of our relationship with a client. Our policy to keep records related to accounting, bookkeeping and payroll services is for a period of at least seven years. After these time periods, we maintain the right to commence the process of destroying the contents of our work files. The content of our work file other than the income tax return or other deliverables that are promised to you and paid for are our property. Should you request a copy of that file, it will be provided to you solely at our discretion and any time associated with the effort to provide these additional documents shall be charged at our standard billing rate.
